Welcome to Star Trek: Spider-Man! It's been two years, and I'd say things are going great. This idea had been rattling around in my head for a long time, and now it's on the web for all to read, for better...or for worse. Spider-Man on the Enterprise-D. Now how does that work? Well, as Jonathan Frakes once said about the transporters, "Very well, thank you."
In all seriousness, this is a reboot of both Star Trek and Spider-Man which puts Spidey (forcefully!) into the Star Trek universe. Peter Parker started as a Cadet on the Enterprise. He was bitten at Farpoint Station and got his powers, still kept them a secret and has fought some of his villains on the ship as well as planetside. Captain Picard thinks he's a menace, as well as Admiral Jameson, who talks with the Captain on a regular basis. Peter, on the other hand, was promoted alongside his friend Wesley by Picard, and is now an acting Ensign. Jameson has also given him the job of capturing images of Spider-Man in action whenever possible and finding out whatever he can about him. And Betty Brant is on the bridge, acting as the liason between Jameson, Parker and Picard.
I've been alternating between rewrites of comic book issues and revisions of TNG scripts, and so far things have gone pretty smoothly. Just a few major changes to the plotlines of episodes or scripts, but nothing that affects the following episode. This year, though, that'll start to be different. How long, after all, do you seriously think I could cram these universes together without them clashing? This year we'll see some crossovers thrown into the mix, because I'm going chronologically through Spidey's original stories. He's appeared in issues of Strange Tales and Avengers, and those will be included as Spider-Man issues here.
2013 promises to be a huge deal. I expect to introduce Daredevil this year, starring in his own title aboard Deep Space Nine. The problem is, he starts out there while it's still Terok Nor. I'm excited about it anyway. As soon as I catch up on last year's work, we'll see what this year holds. Stay tuned!
